Where Is The Unity Within The Female Rap Game?
Everybody has been talking about the whole Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj beef for the last few days and as I watch videos and read interviews on this issue, I asked myself what happened to the unity within female rappers? Have we forgotten the phrase “girl power?” Honestly speaking as a fan, I think the beef is lame. Maybe I’m living a fantasy but I long for the days when female rappers could come together and do a “Ladies’ Night” type of track again. The problem with this rap game is that it has become a dog eat dog type of world. So now we have a vet in the game expressing why she’s the originator of whatever Nicki Minaj is doing, because…well… she wants the relevancy of being the hottest in the game. Let’s keep it real though, Kim does not need to be relevant, it has now become a want for her to be relevant. So I ask the question what difference does it make to pay homage or not? I have never heard Nicki Minaj speak ill of any of the female vets in the rap game. She shows them respect and love all the time in her interviews.
So is this issue deep for Kim? Maybe. If so, then is it relevant for the public to know? Is it battle rap worthy like “Ether” and “Takeover” or is it 50 and Ja type of beef? What is it, and why is there only one female rapper being highlighted as the hottest right now? Trina just released an album and can anybody name a song off of it? The point here is this, if female rappers stuck together, it would be hard to silence their voices. Instead it’s the principle and respect for many of them, and while I understand principles, I’m also allergic to negative publicity. When will these artists put out the music and let the fans decide who’s hotter? If Kim, was really trying to make a point we would have heard about five diss records right now, but we haven’t and the way things are going we probably won’t. So if its not as serious as it is being displayed to us, will all the female rappers out right now come together and shut the game down, PLEASE!? Otherwise, marinate on why there is only one female rapper hot in the game and how you can get a piece of that success. Just sayin’….now carry on with your regularly scheduled programs!

Erykah Badu Gets Naked:How Far is Too Far?
Wow! I did not think that R&B/Neo-Soul singer Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat” video would get this much attention until I seen her drop her panties in the video…YIKES! This video has become the most controversial video of the year and has been banned on Youtube. How ironic is that…I can Youtube a “sexual fetish” video or “two hot girls kissing” on Youtube anyday (Youtube ya’ll get the mean side eye for that one). None the less, the video has been banned on many sites, but I think many people have missed the point of the video. The message in the video is broken down like this….
We as people shun who we are as individuals and build up layers to hide our individuality( which is why Ms. Badu is fully clothed in the beginning). Then as we become wiser and evolve we begin to take the steps on becoming conscious (hence Ms. Badu taking off the layers of clothing while the word “evolving” is written on her back). Thirdly, once we liberate ourselves from mental imprisonment (which is why Ms. Badu is completely naked), we are crucified for going against the grain and being an individual (hence Ms. Badu being assassinated in the end of the video, and what better way to choose the path of where JFK was assassinated, since it was believed that JFK was assassinated for being someone who went against the grain). To sum it all up Erykah’s “blood” spells out the word “group think,” which explains the whole “assassinate one’s character” message that Erykah was conveying through the video.
Now my question is, how far is too far when you express your beliefs? Or is being completely naked in the middle of a big city just because “you don’t give a f*ck” a more justifiable way of being “artistic”? Shouldn’t we not judge one act to be more morally wrong than the other? So why is Erykah Badu being crucified more than the artists that inspired her? Lady Gaga Premieres “Telephone” Video Feat. Beyonce
So EVERYBODY and their mama (LITERALLY) have been talking about the new “Telephone” video. Some don’t like it, some loved it but one thing that is for sure is that Lady Gaga is a pure genius. After watching the video the second time I understood the underlying messages that she was putting out there. I recommend you watch this video at least twice to understand what’s going on if you don’t get it the first round. Check the video out below! Oh yeah…viewer discretion is advised..LOL & SMH! You gotta love Gaga!
Have We Not Forgiven Chris Brown??
Personally, I have forgotten about the whole issue. Were we supposed to forgive Chris too? Last time I check Rihanna was the victim…but I digress. It has been a year later and Chris is still receiving a lot of flack from radio stations and major CD distributors from the “Grammy night incident.” Now I am not condoning domestic violence, but if Rihanna has moved on with her life, so should we. Anyway! Check out this message Chris Brown left his fans asking for their help to promote his songs. Chris Brown Asks For Help From Fans
What do you think? Should Chris Brown be banned from the radio or should his music be on constant rotation? Before you answer that just think about all the other music artists who have committed crimes and their music was still played heavy on the radio.

T.I. Wants You To Know That He’s Back!!!
Today at 5pm T.I. released his new single “I’m Back” on his official website trapmuzik.com. It’s crazy how when one rapper gets out of jail another one goes in, things that make you go hmmm! While you ponder on that, listen to the track below:
Lil Wayne Has Officially Been Sentenced to Jail
After all the incidents that kept Wayne from his initial court date, Wayne has been officially sentenced to one year in jail. If he maintains good behavior while in jail, he will have the opportunity to be released out of jail in eight months. Let’s hope for the best in Wayne’s situation. Check out the details of Wayne’s departure here:
The time has finally come for Lil Wayne… he got sentenced to one year in jail earlier today at around 2PM. As previously reported, Wayne’s sentencing got delayed a couple of times due to dental surgery and a fire. If Weezy maintains good behavior inside prison, his sentence can be shortened to up to eight months which would mean he would be out later this year. Lil Tunechi’s very last tweet on his twitter account reads: “Law is mind without reason. ……………..I’ll return”, and here is an update from today inside the Manhattan courthouse courtesy of J-Rod: “Lil Wayne didn’t speak in the court room, but nodded that he understood the charges. Then he nodded again to Birdman as police cuffed him”.

Mo’Nique Wins Oscar For Best Supporting Actress
First let me say congratulations to Mo’Nique for winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in the film Precious inspired by the book PUSH. There have been negative comments thrown at the film and at Mo’Nique herself, but last night Mo’Nique accepted her award with class. I understand people have mixed feelings about what the film conveyed. However, just because the face of this movie was black, does not mean that it is solely a black story. Often times we shun the youth and never tell their stories. I have met many “Preciouses” and “Mary Joneses” in my life. This story IS…REAL. So many young people silence themselves and hold the burden of an ugly act. There are so many parents who are behind bars because of this act. There are also many parents who have taken the matters of law in their own hands with these predators, one of these parents is an uncle of mine. So before we judge the surface of a story, read the pages and dissect the message being portrayed to you. Be aware of your child’s behavior and LISTEN to them. This issue is waaay bigger than Mo’Nique and I feel that Lee Daniels and the Precious cast understood that. I wish that the rest us of could understand the bigger picture as well. Now I present to you Mo’Nique’s acceptance speech…

I also want to congratulate Sandra Bullock for FINALLY winning Best Lead Actress in “Blind Side.” This was her first Oscar and first nomination. I am genuinely happy for her. She is a true talent and she definitely deserves that award. Who would have ever thought a comedian and a romantic-comedy actress would receive those types of accolades? It just lets you know that talent has no labels.
